Luighi is on the move from Palmeiras to New York City, and the deal is all but done. The 20-year-old Brazil attacker is reported to already be with his new club for medical checks and signing. The structure is a loan until the end of the year, with Palmeiras banking around 300,000 dollars up front and holding a purchase option of six million dollars. Crucially, Palmeiras also keep of the player going forward. The story sits with Andre Hernan, a reliable voice who rates well on credibility. He first flagged New York City's loan offer on 14 July, then confirmed the deal as closed on 22 July. This is single-source reporting, but from a trusted name who has tracked it from the initial bid through to the finish. The chance here is very strong. Hernan describes the deal as done, with the player already stateside for exams and a signature. The fee being discussed sits between €6m and €7m, comfortably within reach given the reported €6m figure. What little stood in the way, the pending details Hernan mentioned on 14 July, appears to have been settled. The money is squarely in keeping with how New York City do business. They paid €7m to sign a player from Racing Club in 2024, €5m from Corinthians in 2022, and €5m from Vélez Sarsfield in 2023. This move fits that same bracket neatly.
