Maxence Caqueret to Monaco

Quiet since 30 August 2026. Last report: Marc Mechenoua. Probability when it went quiet: 11%.

Monaco have made contact with Como over Maxence Caqueret, and the interest is real rather than speculative chatter. But the move is tied directly to Lamine Camara's future at the club. Monaco are working through a short list in case Camara leaves, and Caqueret sits near the top of it. Talks with Como are said to centre on a straight loan for one season, not a permanent deal, which is a shift from the €14m to €20m fee range first floated. The player himself has not decided what he wants to do next. The reporting comes from two French football journalists, Marc Mechenoua and Sacha Tavolieri, both rated as solid rather than top-tier voices. Tavolieri broke the initial interest back on 13 August and has since described Monaco as pushing harder, hence the loan detail. Mechenoua, writing the same day as Tavolieri's update, strikes a cooler note: no notable progress and the player undecided. Two sources broadly agree on the contact, but they diverge on momentum, which keeps this short of a confirmed advance. This one sits as a long shot for now. Como hold Caqueret on a contract until 2029 and have no pressure to sell cheaply. Monaco's whole plan depends on Camara moving on first, and that has not happened. Beşiktaş linger as a smaller rival for the player's signature, but neither destination looks close to done. Como bought Caqueret from Lyon for €15m in 2025, so any fee near €14m to €20m would roughly track his valuation. Monaco's past business, including €17m for a Toulouse arrival in 2024 and €18m for one from Alavés in 2019, shows they do spend in that bracket when a deal firm
