Mees de Wit to 1. FC Köln

Quiet since 1 September 2026. Last report: Patrick Berger. Probability when it went quiet: 14%.

Earlier read, written at an earlier stage of this story: 1. FC Köln are not chasing Mees de Wit because they see him as their first choice. They are looking at him because their real target, Borna Sosa, might not happen. Talks have already taken place between the two parties, and Köln are now running a further check on the deal before deciding whether to push on. The story comes from two well-connected voices working the same line. Florian Plettenberg, rated at 82 for credibility, broke the detail that Köln are carrying out another check on the move. Even then, Köln still need to satisfy themselves on the fee and finish the check they are currently running. Nothing here suggests urgency from either club, and a move stalling on a rival deal is inherently fragile. AZ have sold full-back type players for these kinds of numbers before. Southampton paid AZ €7m for a player, Ajax paid €6m in 2015, and Feyenoord also paid €6m. A €5m-€7m fee for d
