Lille add Mofokeng to shortlist, Bayer 04 also watching
The situation
Lille have put Relebohile Mofokeng on their shortlist, nothing firmer than that. The 22-year-old South African attacker only joined Union Saint-Gilloise this July, arriving from Orlando Pirates for €3.5m four months ago, and he is tied to the Belgian club until 30 June 2030. No fee has been reported and no personal terms touched. Bayer 04 are watching too, so Lille are one of at least two clubs taking a look rather than a club closing on a signing.

Sacha Tavolieri, a trusted reporter, carried the story on 4 November, and he first reported it that same day. His is the only report so far. It names Mofokeng on Lille's list and Bayer 04 as another admirer, and it stops there: interest alone, with the selling club not even named in the post. One voice, one day old, and no other outlet has matched it.
The outlook
This is a long way from a deal. January's window opens on 1 January 2027 and shuts on 1 February, and with Mofokeng signed only in July on a deal running to 2030, Union have no reason to move him cheaply so soon. For anything to happen before that deadline, Lille would need to turn a name on a list into an actual approach, then meet a price Union have not even set. On what is known today, that is a slim chance.

The first real trigger would be Lille lodging a concrete bid, or a rival like Bayer 04 firming up and forcing the pace. Until someone names a figure, this stays interest.
